Hi everyone... just wanted to ask the pros of low-carb dieting if Slim-diet (0 cals.; 0 carbs) and Crystal light (already made [5 cals.; 0 carbs] -- not powder) beverages are good for induction phase? The sweeteners are sucralose and Acesulfame-K in both these beverages. What I understand from the Atkins "Acceptable Food" list is that sucralose and Acesulfame-K are both acceptable. Am I reading this correctly? By the way, both of these taste pretty good and a nice change from water.

Janiel,
I thought that the Crystal Light was sweetened with Aspartame (Nutrasweet)? If it is, Atkins has turned away from that particular sweetener. I have found that Fruit2o, by veryfine, is a flavored water (not carbonated) that is sweetened with Splenda (sucralose). Also Atkins now has soda flavored syrups that can be added to seltzer and club soda (club has sodium, so watch out if you are sensitive).
And if you like herbal teas, you can sweeten them w/ Splenda, which are sold in packets and granular form.

Dionne:

Crystal Light in the powder form is sweeted with Aspartame; however, the Crystal Light that's already made (in the soda isle) is not sweetened with Aspartame. Thanks for the tidbit on the other drink, I'll have to try it.
